Dawn manages the fiscal and human resource operations of the college, working closely with the Dean, Department Chairs, Human Resources, Budget and other offices directly involved in funding and personnel related matters. She supervises a Program Officer in the Dean’s Office who is responsible for monitoring accuracy of transactions and oversees department office managers for compliance with proper university policies and procedures.

 

Dawn has been with the university since 1989 and the College of Engineering since 2000. She serves on several committees and is often asked to participate in workshops designed to educate new administrative employees or develop new business practices for our campus. She is also an alumnus of the University of Nevada and welcomes contact from individuals interested in pursuing education or a career at the university.

Sam is the administrative assistant for the College of Engineering’s Associate Dean for Curriculum & Assessment and other advisement, recruitment and retention staff.  She schedules academic advisement appointments, organizes student events and answers educational process questions for prospective and current students.  She is the primary telephone contact for the dean’s office and can answer many of your questions about the college or refer you to someone who can assist you.

 

A 2002 alumnus of the university, Sam has been with the College of Engineering since Fall 2006.

Maryanne works with the Dean, Associate Dean, Director of Development, faculty, staff and students to facilitate communication between alumni, companies & foundations and the college. Developing relationships to connect the college with alumni and friends is Maryanne’s first priority. Maintaining and growing those relationships are her second. Maryanne works primarily within Nevada on outreach to enhance student scholarships, equipment and facility upgrades, and programmatic support. Maryanne joined the College of Engineering and the University of Nevada, Reno in 2007.

Sally has worked for the university since 2007 and provides administrative support to the Dean and the Development Directors of the College of Engineering.  The main focus of her work requires communication with the Department Chairs and faculty members, as well as board members, alumni and friends of the college.

 

Working with the development team and members of the Dean’s office, she organizes events such as the Scrugham Medal Dinner, Advisory Board meetings and the Engineering Spring Celebration.  She is also responsible for publishing information such as the newsletter which is distributed bi-annually and the annual faculty research booklet.

Debbie Delauer

Debbie is our K-12 Outreach Coordinator for two programs:  our Mobile Engineering Education Lab (ME2L) program and the Summer Engineering Camps, receiving salary and program funding from generous donations made by engineering companies and foundations in our community.  She participates in several outreach events and tours that take place on our campus and in the community throughout the year, such as:  Meridian Gold’s Fun Run; Future Cities; WOW! That’s Engineering? Tune Into Kids; and Engineer’s Day. Her primary responsibilities are to promote the outreach programs within our local public, private, and charter schools (K-8), supervise engineering students conducting K-12 classroom experiments, and to promote UNR, our college, and outreach programs as opportunities become available. 

 

Debbie has been with our college since May 2007, coming from 12 years with Washoe Country School District as a teacher and the coordinator of the Partners-in-Education Program.

Meg interacts with students on a variety of levels.  She visits high school classes to present information about engineering and becoming a student of engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno.  Meg participates in on-campus programs to make sure students are well informed about campus policies and procedures and she provides academic advising to students. 

 

Meg has worked at the University since 2003 and in the College of Engineering since 2006.  Meg serves on several university and college committees – all to promote student success!  If you want to know more about becoming a student in the College of Engineering, or would like to tour our facilities please give her a call.

 

Rose Johns

Rose is responsible for monitoring the accuracy of employment contracts and travel documents that come through the dean’s office for processing.  She works closely with the college Budget and Personnel Coordinator to maintain compliance with proper policies and procedures, and she assists department staff with paperwork problems and questions.  She also maintains employee leave records and works with the Associate Dean for Curriculum and Assessment, the Director and the Assistant Director for Development and Alumni Relations and department representatives to disburse awards for the college scholarship program.

 

Rose has been with the university since 1988 and the College of Engineering since 1996.

 

Nancy LaTourrette

Nancy manages the computing resources of the College of Engineering, including supervision of college level IT personnel.  She coordinates software licensing, hardware and software purchases, prioritization of major computing projects, and maintenance of servers.  She is the liaison between Campus Computing and our college’s computing users, ensuring compliance with campus-wide computing policies and procedures.  Nancy also manages the Engineering Computing Center (ECC), the primary computer facility for students in the college, including class scheduling for the facility.

 

In addition, Nancy has been a member of the department of Computer Science and Engineering since 1997.  She teaches programming, theoretical computer science, and  advises undergraduate students majoring in CS and CIE.


Jennifer O'Neil

Jennifer works closely with the Associate Dean in her advisement of all incoming freshmen through first semester sophomores, along with all transfer students. She enjoys following the progress of all the engineering students and offering assistance during their acclimation to the university experience. In addition, Jennifer re-enters the engineering student’s life when it is time to graduate during graduation reconciliation. She encourages all engineering students to seek advisement each semester (“early and often” is her motto).

 

Jennifer has been with the university since 1989 and with the College of Engineering since 2006 as well as an alumna of UNR.

 

Melanie Perish

Melanie works in conjunction with the Dean, Associate Dean, Assistant Director of Development, faculty, students and volunteer leaders to form partnerships with individuals and companies. Often these partnerships result in additional time, talent and funds for the college.

 

Individuals or representatives of companies, agencies and charitable foundations interested in learning about the programs and projects in the college are always welcome to contact her. She handles alumni outreach in northern Nevada, California, Arizona and the Pacific Northwest. She has been with the university since 1987 and the College of Engineering since 1994. She has primarily worked in the area of major gift fundraising and planned giving for the last three years.
