Summer Camps
Engineering Summer Camps 2009
Spend a week this summer exploring engineering majors and careers with our qualified staff, professionals from the community and college instructors.
Expect hands-on activities and projects, such as: building & testing bridges, blasting bottle rockets, building a robot, designing a digital video game, using our labs, touring our campus, field trips and more...
All camps run Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., based in the Harry Reid Engineering Laboratory at the southeast end of the University of Nevada, Reno campus. Registration fee per camp is $250 (financial assistance and scholarships are available). Students need to provide their own transportation and a daily lunch (healthy snacks and water will be provided).
Intro to Engineering Camps (designed for students ages 12 – 14) Varied activities from our departments:
- Chemical & Materials Engineering
- Civil & Environmental Engineering
- Computer Science & Engineering
- Electrical & Biomedical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
Dates: June 22 – 26; July 13 – 17; July 27 – 31
Civil Engineering Camps (designed for students ages 14 – 17) Focused on specific areas:
- Earthquakes
- Environmental
- Geotechnical
Dates: July 6 – 10; July 20 – 24
