2008 Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination for ENGINEER INTERN Classification


UNR STUDENTS  APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS  

If you are currently a full-time UNR Engineering student and want to take the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering examination, submit your completed application and $70 application fee to the College of Engineering Associate Dean's Office.

 

Application Deadline is September 2, 2008.      
(No refund of fees will be made on cancellations after this deadline.)   

 

The Reno exam will be on Saturday, October 25, 2008
The Associate Dean's Office will verify your UNR student status and educational requirement, then forward the applications to the Nevada Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors office for the scheduled examination.  To qualify to take the exam, an applicant must be a current, full-time university student, and have achieved Senior status (completed at least 90 credits towards an engineering degree) -or- have earned a bachelor of science engineering degree and have a graduate degree in progress.

Submit completed application & forms to the Engineering Associate Dean's Office; do not send directly to the Board.   

 

Your completed application must include all forms listed below! 
   INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED   

 

Application Checklist:

  1. Foreign-Born Students -  If you are not a US Citizen, this is a requirement - see (NAC 625.210.3)
    "Documentary proof from non-USA Citizens of right to remain and work or attend college in USA, or of naturalization as a citizen of the United States is required".  You must provide a copy of an alien "green card", I-20, or another document to show proof of your status.
         
  2. Exam Application form – 4 pages.  
  3. College Transcripts 
  4. Child Support Declaration form.   
  5. Check or Money Order for the current application fee ($70).
  6. Signature notarized on the application page 4.

You must answer all questions in your application whether you think they apply to you or not.  ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS ON PAGE FOUR.  Have your application and signature notarized.  Incomplete applications will be returned to you.  The work experience page may be completed if you have experience outside of the University.  Full-time university students are not required to provide references from PE’s or Professors. 

 
Legal Alien or Citizenship Status: (Documents are Required)
If you are not a US Citizen, a copy of your documentation of right to remain and work or attend college in USA or documentary proof of naturalization as a citizen of the United States is required (NAC 625.210.3) 

 

Transcript Order Form:
Order a copy of your current transcripts; stamped & sealed by the University’s Registrar’s office.  If you have transcripts from other colleges where you earned a degree or a significant number of credits, please order them to be sent to our Board also.   

 

Your application is incomplete without transcripts

 

Child Support Form:
To satisfy Nevada and Federal laws, ALL APPLICANTS must include the completed Child Support Declaration form. 

 

Reference Forms:  Full-time university students are not required to provide references from PE’s or Professors. 

 

Approximately 5 weeks before the exam date, applicants will receive a confirmation letter.  They may review a current copy of the NCEES FE Reference Handbook on the www.ncees.org website under Study Materials.  This will be the same type of book you will be issued at the exam site and you will receive a copy of the NCEES FE Reference Handbook at the exam site to take home.  Two weeks before the exam, applicants will receive an exam admission card and details concerning the exam location and times.  If you have any questions about this exam or procedure, please check with the Advising Center Office or call the Examination Administrator at the Nevada Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors office in Reno at 1-800-728-2632.
