Summary
Cheston “Chet” Carpenter has worked with the University of Nevada, Reno Environmental Health & Safety since 2006. Beginning with the Chemical Inventory group, he become familiar with laboratories and researchers around campus and assisted with development of the current chemical inventory and delivery operations at the Central Services building. After serving as a working supervisor for the inventory group, he transitioned into a different role, performing safety assessments and obtaining formal training related to biosafety, chemical hygiene, and laboratory ventilation. Through this work he was introduced to the Select Agent Program, for which he is the Responsible Official. He has served as the Manager of the Laboratory Safety group, and is now the Executive Director of EH&S.
