Megan Edgar is the 2008 Dana Davis Award Recipient. She grew up in Northern Maine and graduated from the University of Maine with a BS in Zoology. She conducted marine mammal research and worked as a dolphin trainer for a few years before deciding to move out West.

“I played ski bum for a few years and then realized I wanted to do something more fulfilling with my life. The biology and psychology of how we learn has always been an interest of mine, and I felt I could pursue that interest and contribute to society at the same time by becoming a teacher,” Edgar said.
Megan entered UNR in the Fall of 2006 and graduated this spring.

Megan plans on teaching for a few years before returning to school to pursue a Ph.D. She is interested in science curriculum development and research in cognitive psychology. According to COE faculty member, Dr. Stephan Lafer, Megan is an outstanding student with a passion for both learning and teaching and her background as a working scientist gives her practical perspective which greatly enhances her ability to  make science interesting and relevant to the students she will teach.
