Substance-using Women and Drug-exposed Infants:
Module Three - Intake and Screening
Back
Intake and Screening of Women with Alcohol and Other Drug Problems discusses guidelines for the first prenatal visit; guidelines for the maternal substance use assessment within the health care setting; and standard approaches to screening and assessment using the CAGE (Ewing and Rouse,1970) and the T-ACE (1989). Three role play exercises are provided to teach the CAGE and the T-ACE as a screening technique. An ob/gyn substance use interview report form is utilized to assist the screening process.
