Print Publications created through NNWP Projects
| An important note for those ordering guides: The NNWP offices will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday from November 25 to December 1. No orders for guides will be accepted during this time. Thanks for understanding. |
Each year, the Northern Nevada Writing Project sponsors a very special professional development experience for a select group of Nevada teachers. The result of the work these specially-invited teachers do together becomes a new print resource that is shared among teachers in Northern Nevada. In 2004, our first print guide was published. In January 2009, our fifth came out.
Northern Nevada administrators can order school or department sets of these print resources by simply agreeing to reimburse the NNWP the cost it takes us to print and bind the guides.
Outside of Northern Nevada, any teacher, trainer, or administrator can order copies of these teacher-friendly guides. Prices and information on ordering are listed below. The Northern Nevada Writing Project is a not-for-profit organization. All monies received from this page's sales go to pay for the creation of future resources for teachers.

________
Appreciated praise for our Going Deep with Compare and Contrast Thinking Guide for Teachers
"Like all the NNWP guides, Going Deep with Compare and Contrast Thinking takes abstract thinking and embeds it in highly practical lessons that teachers of all grade levels and content areas can use instantly. I have never seen books so jam-packed with fun lessons that animate learning and promote student engagement. But what makes these books so special is that they are created and refined by the same teachers and students who use them. The NNWP has created an engine for learning and curriculum development we can call learn from."
--Barry Lane, author, The Reviser's Toolbox and 51 Wacky We-Search Reports

Two beloved resources for over a decade in Nevada, in 2007 they just became too expensive to print anymore. These 400+ page guides served as "cookbooks of fresh ideas" for Northern Nevada teachers. Thanks to two grants and to the generosity of the Washoe County School District, these guides were put into the hands of thousands of Nevada educators.
Many of these guides' resources can now be accessed for free at the WritingFix website.
Here's a little secret: We actually have several boxes of these guides back in the warehouse. To encourage outside-of-Nevada participation at our website, we will send a free copy to any teacher who either...
- a) sends us a polished student sample for one of the lessons (picture book lessons, chapter book lessons, iPod lessons, or poetry lessons) at WritingFix where we are missing a student sample or...
- b) proposes a mentor-text-inspired lesson for any of our on-going projects, using the lesson template featured at these project's homepages.
This is your only chance to own a printed piece of Northern Nevada history...once our few remaining copies are gone, they're gone. E-mail Corbett Harrison for details. |
