Print Publications created through NNWP Inquiry Projects

Important Dates, if you're placing an order. The NNWP offices will be closed between February 17 and March 1. No new orders for guides will be accepted between these two dates. Thank you.

Each year, the Northern Nevada Writing Project sponsors a very special professional development experience for a small group of Nevada's bestteachers. The result of the work these specially-invited teachers do together becomes a new print resource that is shared among our teachers in Northern Nevada.

Our Northern Nevada administrators can order school or department sets of these print resources by simply agreeing to reimburse the NNWP the cost it takes us to print and bind the guides.

Outside of Northern Nevada, any teacher, trainer, or administrator can order copies of these resources. Prices and information for ordering are listed below. The Northern Nevada Writing Project is a not-for-profit organization.   All monies received from this page's sales go to pay for the creation of future resources for teachers.

________

Appreciated praise for our Going Deep with Compare and Contrast Thinking Guide for Teachers

"Like all the NNWP guides, Going Deep with Compare and Contrast Thinking takes abstract thinking and embeds it in highly practical lessons that teachers of all grade levels and content areas can use instantly.  I have never seen books so jam-packed with fun lessons that animate learning and promote student engagement. But  what makes these books so special is that they are created and refined by the same teachers and students who use them. The NNWP has created an engine for learning and curriculum development we can call learn from."

--Barry Lane, author, The Reviser's Toolbox and 51 Wacky We-Search Reports

Elementary Writing Guide
(1995-2005)

400+ pages...our "cookbook of fresh ideas" assembled for Northern Nevada K-6 teachers who were working with the Northern Nevada Writing Project. Thanks to two grants and to the generosity of the Washoe County School District, these guides were put into the hands of thousands of Nevada educators.

Many of these guides' resources can now be accessed for free at the WritingFix website

Secondary Writing Guide
(1998-2005)

400+ pages...our "cookbook of fresh ideas" assembled for Northern Nevada K-6 teachers who were working with the Northern Nevada Writing Project. Thanks to two grants and to the generosity of the Washoe County School District, these guides were put into the hands of thousands of Nevada educators.

Many of these guides' resources can now be accessed for free at the WritingFix website

Here's a little secret about our out-of-print resource guides: We actually have several dusty boxes of these three guides back in the warehouse. To encourage outside-of-Nevada participation at our WritingFix website, we will send a free copy to any teacher who either...

  • a) sends us a polished student sample for one of the lessons (picture book lessons, chapter book lessons, iPod lessons, or poetry lessons) at WritingFix where we are missing a student sample or...
  • b) proposes a mentor-text-inspired lesson for any of our on-going projects, using the lesson template featured at these project's homepages.

These guides are no longer for sale. Please don't offer to send money. We only will give them away to non-Nevada teachers who share with our WritingFix website. This is your only chance to own a printed piece of Northern Nevada history...once our remaining copies are gone, they're gone. E-mail Corbett Harrison with questions.
