Our Upcoming Kids' Writing Programs
Summer Writing Camps |
Spring Poetry Festival |
Each summer, teams of Northern Nevada Writing Project Consultants pair up to teach summer writing camps out in the schools or on the University Campus. Our TWIST Camps and our "Write Stuff" sessions are always popular with students who love to write and who want to be around other students with similar interests.
Kim Leslie (at left) is our Northern Nevada Writing Project's TWIST Coordinator. She took the NNWP Summer Institute in 1999. Kim teaches at Whitehead Elementary in Sparks, Nevada.
Lori Farias and Phil Harriman (at right) are our "Write Stuff" Instructors for the University of Nevada-Reno's Summer Kids-U Program. Phil has been a TC since his 1987 Summer Institute, and Lori became a TC during the summer of 1998. Both Phil and Lori teach at Sparks High School. |

Each spring, we sponsor our Piñon Poetry Festival, where teachers and students attend together to write poetry. Click here to access past prompts from this festival, and to explore additional poetry lessons we feature for teachers to use.
