8. Library Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is for the student to become familiar with the Learning and Resource Center. The student will select a topic for a lesson/unit. Using the computerized catalogue, the student will discover what materials are available in that content area. Then the student will locate and review some of these materials. A one-page paper will be submitted describing the event and what was discovered.
9. Class Presentation
The structure of this assignment is to select a topic and then locate and/or make media which can be used to enhance the lesson. Samples of the media are to be displayed to the class as part of the presentation. The setting is a situation in which peers are sharing ideas about how to teach lessons. This is not a demonstration lesson.
The purpose of the class presentation is twofold. First, each student will go through the process of selecting a piece of content to teach and then discover instructional media which can be used to enhance the lesson. Second, each student in the class, by observing these presentations, will receive numerous ideas about media resources and how to use them to present specific lessons. The presentation may be made by one, two, or three people.
