Undergraduate Degrees

Educational Specialties offers three Bachelor of Science degrees. EDU courses at the 100- and 200-levels are open to all interested students. However, you must be admitted to Teacher Education before enrolling in EDS 300- and 400-level courses. All programs culminate in a full-time, semester-long Supervised Internship where you slowly assume the full teaching responsibilities in a public school classroom.

Integrated Elementary/Special Education Major

This innovative program leads to Nevada teacher licensure in elementary education (grades K-8) and in special education for students with mild to moderate disabilities (grades K-12). Special Education Major

This program is 128 credits and leads to Nevada licensure in special education for students with mild to moderate disabilities in grades Kindergarten through 12. The program may be taken on a full-time or part-time basis and courses are offered at a variety of times and formats.

Early Childhood Education Major

This is a collaborative program with the Department of Human Development and Family Studies in College of Health and Human Sciences. It prepares childcare professionals for a variety of roles, including public school teaching, serving young children from birth through age 8 (grade 2). Interested students should consult the Early Childhood Education Web site for program and advisement information.
