Teacher Licensure in Elementary, Special Education, English as a Second Language, and Literacy

There are many routes to teacher licensure in Nevadan and several are available in the EDS Department. Additional information about teacher licensure programs can be found through the College of Education Student Advisement Center.

 

All educator preparation programs in the College of Education are NCATE accredited and conform to Nevada's teacher licensure requirements, with reciprocity to many other states. Information regarding state license requirements can be found on the web site of the Nevada Department of Education.

 

For those without an undergraduate college (bachelors) degree:

Three undergraduate degrees leading to licensure in special education, elementary and special education, and early childhood education are available through EDS.

 

For those who already have an undergraduate college degree:

Advanced Degrees

The Department of Educational Specialties also provides a variety of graduate programs at the master's and doctoral levels for teachers or other education professionals who wish to pursue advanced degrees and continuing professional development experiences.
