Profile:

Christine O. Cheney has been on the special education faculty at the University of

Nevada, Reno since 1984. Dr. Cheney teaches courses in specializes in mild to

moderate disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders, collaboration and inclusion.

In addition, her research interests include teacher education and educational

technology.

Dr. Cheney received her doctoral degree from the Indiana University –

Bloomington and her master’s and undergraduate degrees from the College of

William and Mary in Virginia. She is currently involved in two federally funded

grants. Project TEESET, Technology Enhanced Education for Special Education

Teachers, prepares master’s-level teachers in a primarily on-line format to work

with students who have low incidence disabilities. Project TITE-N, Technology in

Teacher Education – Nevada, is a PT3 grant to build the technology skills of all new

teachers in the college.

Before coming to UNR, Dr. Cheney was involved in a variety of grants and projects

at Indiana University, was the Director of Special Education in Spartanburg School

District Three (South Carolina), and taught in special education programs for

students with mild to moderate disabilities.
