College of Education Giving Opportunities
Your gift to the College of Education will help support and strengthen College
of Education programs. In addition, a scholarship gift will directly impact
a student's life. Your gift will make a difference. Following are a few areas
of need:
Scholarships
Scholarships are very important for the success of our students. We are currently providing all possible scholarship
dollars to students during their internship semester. This semester is
the most difficult time financially for our students because they spend
forty hours per week in the classroom and are discouraged from holding
an additional job. For this reason we need to raise as many funds as possible
to help our students on their journey to becoming successful teachers.
Here are some words from a student who received a scholarship from the College
of Education:
"I am a single mother of two elementary school age children and without
your assistance I don't know how I could have afforded the tuition for my internship
this fall. I could never have achieved my degree, without the help of kind people
such as you who understand the hardships of living on a limited income and pursuing
a dream of being a college graduate and a successful teacher. Thank You!"

Dean's Future Scholars Program
This program recruits low-income, at-risk first generation students into teacher education.
The basic idea of the Dean's Future Scholars Program is that before students
can consider teaching as a career, they must first believe that college
is a possibility for them. The themes of the program are: You can
go to college, You can go to the University of Nevada, Reno, You can become
a teacher.
This program is designed to encourage students and their parents to start
thinking about and planning for college beginning in the sixth grade.
Fund for Academic Excellence Program
This fund supports programs in the College of Education that do not receive
state dollars. Funding from this program goes toward our technology endowment.
In addition, the fund supports faculty attending conferences and other scholarly
activities to increase their visibility and help them to achieve national recognition.
Purchase a brick or triangle to support education!
An excellent way to support the college is to purchase a personalized brick
or triangle. Bricks are placed in front of the College of Education's
William Raggio Building and triangles are prominently displayed in the
building's atrium. For more information about purchasing a brick click here.
