Where can I obtain information on admissions, programs or performance assessments?

Copies of a program, admission forms, or description of performance assessment can be found on the website (www.unr.edu/educ/ctl/) or in the Department of Curriculum Teaching and Learning (WRB 3100) or in the Student Advisement Center (WRB 2005).    Back to top

 

How do I find out if a course I took from a previous college can serve as a fulfillment of a prerequisite?

Make an appointment with the Student Advisement Center, bring in the course description from the previous college to show an advisor, who will decide if it should be submitted for faculty review as a possible substitution.     Back to top

 

When is Portfolio I due?

How can I get involved in volunteer activities involving teaching before I am admitted to the program?

Do I have to take the PPST (Praxis I)?

All students who seek admission to one of the teacher licensure programs must meet the pre-professional skills requirement set by the State of Nevada in one of the following four ways:

 

Do First Time Licensure students have to pass the Praxis II before they can student teach or can they take it during student teaching?

All students completing licensure programs must pass the Praxis II exams prior to completion of the internship. It is a requirement of "Program Completion" at UNR and of the State Department of Education for a teacher to be considered "highly qualified." The State no longer allows new license applicants a time period for passing the Praxis II exams; applicants for licensure must submit passing scores for the Praxis II exams required in their licensure area.  Back to top
