Dr. Tom Harrison joined the Depatment of Counseling and Educational Psychology in 1988 and assumed the coordinator role of the Marital, Couple, and Family Counseling and Therapy in 1999. Dr. Harrison became department chair in 2006. He has had a private counseling and consulting practice for over twenty five years. Dr. Harrison has extensive experience in sports psychology, where he has worked with athletes from every level of competition in both national and international venues. In addition, Dr. Harrison has written books and articles. His current research interests include the impact of the Managerial Class on the profession of counseling.

Teaching / Interest
Dr. Harrison teaches courses in marital, couple, and family counseling/therapy, substance abuse counseling, and consultation. He believes strongly in narrative approaches in counseling as well as valuing the systems persppective. Dr. Harrison has extensive clinical experience to sharee with students, and believes that counselors do their best work when they utilize multiple perspectives to formulate narratives and solutions with clients. Toward that end, his classes are sprinkled evenly with theory as well as practical application.
