Office of Field Experiences (OFE)
The Office of Field Experiences helps College of Education students with placement in an internship or practicum required for their degree. The internship is a culminating experience, and it is also the transition from the university classroom to day-to-day practice as a classroom teacher. Through sixteen week or twenty week dual internships, interns apply the knowledge, skills, and abilities they have acquired up to this point in time.
Nell J. Redfield Learning & Resource Center (LRC)
The function of the Nell J. Redfield Learning and Resource Center, commonly known as the LRC, is to provide a variety of resources to educators, university students, teachers, and counselors. The services provided include instructional support and curriculum enrichment. Students and faculty at the university, as well as teachers, administrators, and counselors in surrounding school districts, are invited to use the center's resources.
Computer Lab
The COE Computer Lab is a general use lab located on the first floor of the William Raggio Building in room 1006 on the University of Nevada, Reno Campus. For days and hours, please visit their website.
Career Services
Employers expect applicants who are prepared, have effective resumes, dress professionally, and are able to articulate their skills and accomplishments in a clear way. The role of Career Services is to facilitate student-employer connections so that career opportunities emerge.
Dean's Future Scholars (DFS)
The College of Education at the University of Nevada, Reno and the public school districts are cooperatively involved in a program to recruit diverse students into teacher education. The purpose is to interest students in going on to higher education, and in particular the University of Nevada, Reno.

E.L. Cord Foundation Center for Learning & Literacy (CLL)
The E.L. Cord Foundation Center for Learning & Literacy tutors children in grades 1-6 who have difficulties learning to read, write, and spell. Children are tutored in small groups with an emphasis on developmental instruction and providing positive learning experiences. A progress report with recommendations is prepared and mailed to the parent after tutoring. The Center for Learning and Literacy tutoring program does fill up early, so be sure to register soon.
Child & Family Research Center (CFRC)
The Child & Family Research Center provides early childhood care and education to children from ages 6 weeks to 6 years. This service is offered to UNR students, faculty and staff, and families who meet the annual federal poverty guidelines for the Early Head Start Program. Students must be enrolled in at least six credits with a degree program, faculty and classified staff must work at least .50 FTE.
The Downing Counseling Clinic
The Downing Counseling Clinic is a training center for graduate counseling students. The clinic is a part of the Counseling and Educational Psychology Program at the University of Nevada, Reno. The clinic is dedicated to providing individual, couples, family, and child counseling for the community as well as to Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) students.
Early Learning Center (ELC)
The Early Learning Center serves as a model classroom in the Washoe County School District and for the learning community in the College of Education. The Early Learning Center models multi-year, multi-age educational experiences and developmental and integrated instruction. The mission of the Early Learning Center classroom is to create a nurturing learning environment in which each child can learn and be successful at his or her own individual developmental level.
Harlow Assessment Clinic
The Harlow Assessment Clinic provides assessment services for UNR, TMCC, and WNC, as well as to the region at large. The emphasis is on determining cognitive difficulties and strengths, the presence of learning disabilities, and discovery of underlying processes that may affect learning. Our examiners all possess master's degrees and are completing their internships (in School Psychology). All work is examined by a licensed school psychologist.
Lemelson Foundation Elementary Education Math & Science Master's Cohort
Mrs. Dorothy Lemelson is offering twelve K-6 teachers in Washoe County School District the opportunity to complete a Master's degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Math and Science at the University of Nevada, Reno. Her gift will cover the cost of tuition for the duration of the program.
Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities (NCED)
The mission of the Nevada Center for Excellence is Disabilities is to work cooperatively with consumers, family members, and professionals to assist Nevadans with developmental disabilities of all ages to be independent and productive citizens who are included in their communities.
Nevada Dual Sensory Impairment Project (NDSIP)
The purpose of the Nevada Dual Sensory Impairment Project is to enhance the educational services provided to children and youth, birth through 21 years, with vision and hearing impairments. The project provides statewide technical assistance to support parents, service providers, and other service agencies in meeting the educational needs of children who have dual sensory impairments.
Northern Nevada Writing Project (NNWP)
The Northern Nevada Writing Project provides professional development and leadership opportunities for teachers and administrators interested in both improving and celebrating student writing.
Raggio Research Center for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education (STEM)
The purpose of the Raggio Research Center is to promote a better understanding of the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines by providing quality programs focused in outreach, research and other areas.
Research in Romania (RIR)
The College of Education at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) has participated in a variety of activities in Romania since about 1995. In the spring of 2005, Dr. Bob Ives and Dr. Kathy Obenchain presented a research paper on critical thinking at an international conference at Universitatea Babes-Bolyai (UBB) in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
