New Standards for Educational Diagnosticians
CEC has recently published a revised edition of “What Every Special Educator Must Know.” This recent publication contains ethics, standards and guidelines for special educators in addition to new sets of knowledge and skills for special education specialists. Revised standards for educational diagnosticians are included in this new edition. The original set published on the website was compiled by a committee consisting of Nancy Halmhuber, Theresa Montani, Jennifer Goldblatt, Joan Hoffman,Carol Layton and Pat Frawley, Chair. These standards were then sent out for survey to the CEDS membership and approved for publication. Since the set of knowledge and skills for educational diagnosticians is considered an advanced set of skills, the approved set was then aligned with the Advanced Common Core of knowledge and skills standards . This newly aligned set can be downloaded and also viewed in the 2008 edition of “ What Every Special Educator Must Know’.
