Review of Applications
Shortly after each of the two deadlines faculty in the Department of Educational Specialties & the Department of Curriculum, Teaching & Learning will review all applications. In some instances, faculty review committees may include representatives from other departments in the University and
local school districts. Applicants will be evaluated on criteria derived from the information that they provide. Students will be admitted to teacher education based on: (a) grade point average (b) PPST or CBEST scores; and (c) committee members' judgments of the student's potential to succeed in the teacher education program at UNR, to contribute to the teaching profession as a whole, and to increase the diversity of the teaching force in Nevada.
After selections have been made all applicants will be contacted in writing (within approximately 4-6 weeks) concerning the decisions of the selection committee. Every attempt will be made to notify students of the decision in time to register for the subsequent semester.
Students must maintain good standing in the Teacher Education Program by doing the following:
- Maintain the minimum GPA required by their program
- Continue to meet all College and University requirements for being a student in good standing (see UNR Catalog Section “Readers' Guide to the Catalog”)
- Engage in ethical and professional behavior throughout the course of their program
Students may be placed on probation if their over-all GPA drops below the minimum GPA required for graduation in their program. Students on probation and whose grades remain below the required minimum may not be allowed to graduate from the College of Education or complete an internship in the College of Education.
Note : We reserve the right not to consider applications that are incomplete. Application packets may be picked up at the College of Education Advisement Center one month prior to deadlines. Return applications and all related materials to the Student Advisement Center, WRB 2005.
