FrontPage Tutorial
UNR Standards
At UNR, there is a standard for all official and institutional web pages. These pages should all follow the same layout in order to provide some consistency in UNR's web pages (the contents other than that are up to you as long as it is relevant to the topic).
This will take you through setting up the layout for a UNR compliant web page.
There are 3 elements to the layout:
White Background-
To change the background to WHITE:
- Go into the File menu
- Select Page Properties...
- Click the checkbox next to Use Custom
Background Color
- Click on the Choose... button
- Select the WHITE swatch from the Color window.
- Click the
button.
- Click the
button.
Proper Header-
Official pages must also have the proper header formatting.

After the header is complete, you can enter the body of the page. The only other standard left is the content of the footer in the page.
The Footer-
The footer of an official UNR web page uses the Address font of the drop-down paragraph
formatting menu. But before typing in the footer, place a Horizontal line before it to mark the
beginning of the footer.
- Click on the Insert menu.
- Click on Horizontal Line
- Push the ENTER key to move down to the next line.
The following is a sample footer:

1. The e-mail address of the person responsible for the content of the page
2. The URL of the page
3. Date that the page was last modified
4. Standard Copyright notice. To get the proper font, we will use the Address paragraph formatting.
- In the Paragraph formatting
drop-down menu, select Address.
Now let's move on to the content of the footer.
Line #1-
- Type "Please direct questions to: " and then your e-mail address, or your name.
- Highlight the address or name.
- Click on the Link (
) button.
- Select World Wide Web tab.
- In the drop-down Protocol: menu,
select mailto:
- Type in your e-mail address in the URL: box
- Click the
button.
Let's move on to the next line.
Line #2-
This line contains the URL of the page you are working on. It is to help people bookmark/write-down the URL of the page, and to let them know where they are.
Ask the system administrator to get the URL of the page after it is on the server.
When you know the URL,
- Type "URL of this document: ".
- Type the URL.
Line #3-
This line displays the date that the page was last modified on.
- Type in "Last Modified: "
- Type in the date that the page was last modified on.
Line #4-
Finally, the last line contains a standard copyright notice.
- Type "Copyright "
- Type in the organization's/individual's name who wrote the page.
- Type in the month and year the page was first put on the server.
And that's all there is to the UNR standard for official web pages!
