Master of Science (M.S) in Electrical Engineering

Student StudyingThe master's degree (MSEE) program is flexible with few required courses so that students and faculty advisors can select areas suited to the interest of the student. There are two tracks available to a MSEE student:

  1. Thesis Option:
The thesis option requires a total of 30 semester credit hours:

    • 15 credits must be in courses numbered 700 or above
    • A two credit-hour professional paper
    • A comprehensive examination
Students pursuing the non-thesis master's degree in Electrical Engineering are required to pass a comprehensive exam after the completion of a minimum of 24 credit hours of course work. The exam will be offered at the end of each semester, and will include a written examination followed by an oral examination.

Written Exam: The written exam includes questions on all courses in the student's program of study and will include essay questions.

Oral Exam: The oral exam is to be taken upon passing the written exam. It covers the student's professional paper as well as other topics determined by the students Graduate Committee based on the results of the written exam.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering

The doctor of philosophy requires a total of 72 semester credit hours:
