Graduate Programs
Master of Science (M.S) in Electrical Engineering
The master's degree (MSEE) program is flexible with few required courses so that students and faculty advisors can select areas suited to the interest of the student. There are two tracks available to a MSEE student:
- Thesis Option:
The thesis option requires a total of 30 semester credit hours:
- 24 credits of course work
- 12 of these credits must be in courses numbered 700 or above
- 6 credits of thesis
- Non-Thesis Option:
This option requires:
- A total of 32 semester credit hours
- 15 credits must be in courses numbered 700 or above
- A two credit-hour professional paper
- A comprehensive examination
Written Exam: The written exam includes questions on all courses in the student's program of study and will include essay questions.
Oral Exam: The oral exam is to be taken upon passing the written exam. It covers the student's professional paper as well as other topics determined by the students Graduate Committee based on the results of the written exam.
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering
The doctor of philosophy requires a total of 72 semester credit hours:
- 48 credits of course work
- 30 of these credits must be in courses numbered 700 or above
- 24 dissertation credits
- Qualifying Exams - taken before beginning the program
- Comprehensive Exams - taken after course work and before research project
