Why would I want to attend the College of Science?
If you are interested in studying science or mathematics and want to
have opportunities to participate in research as an undergraduate student,
the College of Science is the place for you! Our faculty members are
internationally recognized scholars, many of whom are recipients of
teaching awards, and they are committed to teaching and helping you.
We help students prepare for their professional goals, whether it is

health graduate school (i.e. medical, dental, pharmacy, etc.). Will
majoring in the sciences or math in the College of Science prepare
me for professional health graduate school?
YES! Many College of Science students have successfully gained admissions
to medical, dental, pharmacy and other professional health graduate
schools. You can major in whatever you'd like, but having a science
major background will help to prepare you to succeed once you are in
graduate school.[Return to top] If I am planning to apply to the University
of Nevada and am interested in a major in the College of Science,
how can I indicate that?
On the Undergraduate Application, you will find a space called "Major"
under Section IV where you will be able to indicate the major you are
interested in pursuing. [Return to top] If I indicate a major I'm interested in pursuing
on my application, am I bound to it?
No, you are able to change your major by filling out the Change of Major/Declaration

office. However, keep in mind that some programs and colleges have minimum
GPA requirements and other pre-requisite requirements. So, check with
the college or department to see if you qualify.[Return to top] If I am interested in the sciences or math,
