Placement Information
There are two ways to place into a mathematics or statistics course at UNR.
1. ACT/SAT scores. This is the default method of placement for math/stat courses and the one that the Mathematics and Statistics department encourages. So far they have proven to be better predictors of subsequent success than other placement tools.
2. Accuplacer testing. Students who do not have ACT/SAT scores can take the Accuplacer test for math/stat course placement. Additionally, Accuplacer can be used for students who wish to challenge the placement based on their ACT/SAT scores.
Please note that the Accuplacer placement test is for initial placement only, meaning:
Once a student has enrolled in and started a math/stat course, only successful completion of the class will permit the student to enroll in the next course in the math/stat series.
Once a student has enrolled in and started a math/stat course, only successful completion of the class will permit the student to enroll in the next course in the math/stat series.
