The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers courses leading to the degrees of bachelor of science or bachelor of arts with a major in mathematics, master of science with a major in mathematics and master of arts for the teaching of mathematics.
The bachelors degrees have options for applied mathematics, discrete mathematics/operations research, statistics, or general mathematics study.
- The bachelor of arts degree provides a traditional liberal arts experience through a balanced course of study in the arts, humanities, foreign language, social and natural sciences.
- The bachelor of science degree is an "expanded major," which provides a more intense experience in mathematics, computing and science. Students planning to major in mathematics are encouraged to consult an advisor from the Mathematics and Statistics Department to design a program of study in mathematics or statistics.
