The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers courses leading to the degrees of bachelor of science or bachelor of arts with a major in mathematics, master of science with a major in mathematics and master of arts for the teaching of mathematics.

The bachelors degrees have options for applied mathematics, discrete mathematics/operations research, statistics, or general mathematics study.

  • The bachelor of arts degree provides a traditional  liberal arts experience through a balanced course of study in the arts,  humanities, foreign language, social and natural sciences.
  • The bachelor of science degree is an "expanded major," which provides a more intense experience in  mathematics, computing and science. Students planning to major in mathematics  are encouraged to consult an advisor from the Mathematics and Statistics  Department to design a program of study in mathematics or  statistics.
