The faculty and staff are vital contributors to the fulfillment of the University's statewide mission and its programs and activities in all 17 Nevada counties. The University has more than 1,600 academic and administrative faculty members and 1,300 classified staff on four campuses -- the Reno main campus, Redfield Campus in south Reno, the Las Vegas campus of the University of Nevada School of Medicine, and the Elko campus of the Fire Science Academy.
Nevada’s Main Quad, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, follows Thomas Jefferson’s design for an “academic village.” The 36 stately elms lining the Quad were planted in 1908. Great horned owls roost in the trees every year.
