The Business of Gaming: Economic and Management Issues

The Business of Gaming:

Economic & Management Issues

Edited by William R. Eadington and Judy A. Cornelius

Most commercial gaming organizations, whether privately held, publicly traded, or government owned, are either nearly new or have experienced rapid growth and change in the past decade.  This has required the accumulation of a wide variety of business skills, including marketing, human resource management, customer service, compliance, and strategic planning.  Furthermore, because of the controversial nature of permitted gambling in most jurisdictions, gaming operations must be particularly sensitive to community and public relation.

The articles contained in this book examine commercial gaming industries from a wide variety of business perspectives including marketing and management.  In addition, studies are drawn from the social science disciplines of economics and sociology, allowing the reader to better understand the complexities of gaming operations in the modern world.
