Integrating Technology: Tools for any grade level and subject
We, as District Trainers, may have the skills to integrate technology into our students' learning but we want all teachers in our districts to integrate technology also. We need to supply them with training and "tools." This training will supply you with a few of these "tools." Part of the day will focus on the software program Inspiration. There will be a brief introduction on a few of the ways this very versatile software can be used and then we will go through the nuts and bolts of how to use Inspiration. Next, the training will focus on three websites; TrackStar, RubiStar, and QuizStar. These three websites are excellent "tools" to allow any teacher, at any grade level, in any subject to integrate technology into their teaching.

Using Camtasia Studio for Technology Integration - Ken Gibson
This first day will served as a follow-up, review and enhancement of material covered in the June training as well as expand into potential integration ideas using the Camtasia Studio software package.
Tuesday, September 9th
Technology Integration WebQuest -Kim Vidoni
Classroom technology integration is the process that unites technology education with educational technology and infuses the insuing skills and concepts into existing curriculum. This workshop will use a WebQuest to challenge attendees to explore the concept of technology integration, discover ways other educators are integrating technology, and create a technology-rich lesson that they can use in their own classrooms. The central question to this workshop is: How can technology be used to support learning in your classroom? See Kim's webquest data at: http://equinox.unr.edu/homepage/kvidoni/cnetc/ |

The two days were divided into a hands-on workshop using Camtasia Studio software. Camtasia Studio is a screen capture software package that enables the user to capture motion screen events in real-time as they occur on the computer screen. It is an ideal piece of software for constructing PC based computer tutorials.
During the workshop, district trainers were shown the four main components of Camtasia Studio (Recorder, Producer, Effects and Menu Maker) as they constructed their own tutorial on a topic of choice.

This class is designed to give teachers a set of tools to use when they encounter problems with a computer at school or at home. It is designed to provide teachers with some basic troubleshooting skills, some knowledge of resources that are available and some confidence in their ability to work with computer hardware and software problems. When teachers leave this class they should be able to solve simple computer problems, and communicate effectively with a technician when they need help with more complex problems.
The first day will feature some tips on how to approach and identify a computer problem and an exercise to find the information you need to fix the problem. We’ll finish the day by tearing a computer apart, putting it back together again, and making sure it works.
The second day will feature practice with installing software and software updates, configuring and trouble shooting printers, and working with network problems.

The day will be divided into two parts. The first focusing on the software program Inspiration and the second part focusing on free Internet websites for teachers. The morning will center around Inspiration. There will be a brief introduction on a few of the ways this very versatile software can be used and then we will go through the nuts and bolts of how to use Inspiration. We will then start work on a Cyberguide. Next, the training will focus on three websites; TrackStar, QuizStar, and Rubric Builder. These three websites are excellent for getting anyone excited about using the Internet with their students. You will design a lesson using at least two of these sites.
I need you to do two things before you come. The first is have a fiction book (picture book, novel, etc.) in mind that you use with your students. You do not have to bring it but it might help. We will use this for the Cyberguide we are going to create. Second, come with an idea for a lesson or unit, preferably something you still need to teach this year. We will work on this unit in the afternoon.

Tuesday I will focus on from the basic slide show to producing a movie. There will be some overlapping both of these days but I have tried to keep those two topics in mind. The high school is located on Franklin and 12th. When you get off the first exit into Lovelock you are on Cornell Avenue. If you are unfamiliar with Lovelock drive down Cornell (it leads you to Sturgeons,) until you hit 14th Street then turn left on 14th and go about three blocks to Franklin- turn left on Franklin and the High School is there on the right.
