Literacy is essential to learning, multidimensional in nature, and influenced by linguistic, psychological, and sociocultural factors. We prepare and support teachers and researchers to better understand pressing literacy issues and to meet the literacy needs of every student.
In this program you have the opportunity to develop knowledge in the areas of teaching reading, writing, spelling, and vocabulary development. As a graduate, you be eligible to earn the Nevada Reading Specialist Endorsement. There are both on-campus and online versions for this degree program.
The Online Multiple Literacies & Critical Perspectives in Education housed within the Literacy Program was recently ranked 36th in the Best Buy rankings:
“These comprehensive rankings are based on a survey of 367 online masters programs across the US. Degrees surveyed included online masters in education, teaching, instructional technology, educational leadership, and special education. These Best Buy programs have been independently reviewed and found to offer a high quality online degree for educators and teachers at a cost that ranks well below the national average. Better yet, all the schools we survey are regionally accredited. Regional accreditation is the most difficult level of accreditation to achieve and the most respected among other universities and employers.” Get Educated Online College Ratings and Rankings.
