The Jean Ford Fund Women's Studies Program Scholarship |

During her life, Jean Ford was synonymous with equality and fairness for all. As a lawmaker in the Nevada Legislature, Ford introduced and supported various bills relating to women and minority rights, services to children and family, removing discrimination on the basis of sex, age and disability, and creating displaced homemaker centers. As one of the early directors of UNR's Women's Studies Program, Jean Ford brought a heightened awareness to a neglected area of study at the University of Nevada, Reno. As founder of the Nevada Women's History Project, she highlighted and promoted women's contributions to the state. Jean Ford's good works garnered her numerous awards in a public service career that spanned decades. The Jean Ford Women's Studies Fund is dedicated to honoring the memory and achievements of this singular woman by supporting Women's Studies students and scholarship, and enhancing the educational opportunities offered through the Women's Studies Program. Awards from the Jean Ford fund will be given on an annual basis to an undergraduate student who has declared a major or minor in Women's Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno, for the purpose of enabling successful completion of her or his education.
