 While providing services to students, faculty, staff, and community, the Writing Center is
also engaged in research, particularly on composition practices in the
academic disciplines. Ongoing projects include the development of
discipline-based workshops in assignment design and evaluation and
portfolio assessment of upper division student writing in selected
academic disciplines. These projects should add to our understanding of the conditions under
which a healthy climate for discourse, particularly written discourse, develops.
