Jonathon Taylor received a Bachelor of Arts degree from East Tennessee State University in
Theatre and in Regional & Comparative Literature and a Master of Fine Arts in Design and
Technology from the University of Oregon.
Jonathon is the Technical Director for Theatre, supervising the construction and implementation
of scenic designs, as well as sharing scene design responsibilities for the Nevada Repertory
Company's season productions. He also teaches classes in stagecraft and scene design.
Fresh from undergraduate work, Jonathon began his teaching career at The University of
Virginia's College at Wise in Wise, VA, where he taught courses in theatre management, design,
stagecraft, drafting, and scene painting. In addition, Jonathon has designed scenery and lighting,
worked as a technician, and served as technical director for a variety of theatre companies
across the country including the Barter Theatre in Abingdon, VA, Porthouse Theatre Company
near Cleveland, OH, the Kumu Kahua Theatre in Honolulu, HI, and the Lord Leebrick Theatre
Company in Eugene, OR.
Jonathon is a member of USITT and ATHE, and has research interests in green theatre
technology, ecocriticism, postmodern and avant-garde theatre history and design, children's
theatre, and pop culture/cultural theory.
