What to Expect from Your Advisor

Each department in the College of Liberal Arts has a plan for assigning students advisors and scheduling appointments.

Advisors should be accessible; however, at peak times scheduling may be very difficult--so try to avoid the rush!

Your advisor will have current catalogs and course schedules for assistance in advising.

Advisors are aware of deadlines for registration and other important dates. It is also your responsibility, however, to be aware of these dates.

Your advisor will be aware of a number of campus resources that may be of help to you.

Core, college, and major requirements can be confusing. Your advisor will help you to avoid errors in your plan of study.

Your advisor will be helpful in planning your course of study and also serve as a mentor regarding careers opportunities and graduate coursework.
