David L. Harvey
Dr. David Harvey is Emeritus Professor of Sociology. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, Urbana in 1970. He has been teaching at the University of Nevada, Reno since 1968. Dr. Harvey is the author of Potter Addition: Poverty, Family and Kinship in a Heartland Community. He has published numerous articles in Sociological Perspectives, The International Journal of Politics, Culture and Society, and other scholarly journals. His areas of specialization include poverty, community, family and kinship, and sociological theory. He is currently engaged in research on chaos theory and social systems.
Jonathan Kelley
Dr. Jonathan Kelley received his Ph.D. in Sociology in 1971 from the University of California Berkeley. He has served for nearly ten years as a Professorial Fellow at Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research, the University of Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Kelley’s areas of research and scholarship include: social stratification, comparative sociology, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and survey design. He has a strong publication record which includes applied and collaborative research activity.
Karl Kreplin
Dr. Karl Kreplin received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California Berkeley. He previously taught in the Sociology Department at the University of Nevada, Reno in the 1970s and early 1980s. His areas of teaching and research interests include political sociology, social stratification, and social change.
John Packham
Dr. John Packham is Adjunct Professor of Sociology. He received his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1992. Dr. Packham's teaching and research interests include sociology of health and illness, health and social policy in the US, and the social organization of work. He is currently the Director of the Nevada Critical Access Hospital Program and a Health Policy Analyst at the UNR School of Medicine.
Lyle G. Warner
Dr. Lyle G. Warner is Emeritus Professor of Sociology. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky in 1967. He has taught at UNR from 1969 to 1994. Dr. Warner has published a number of articles in American Sociological Review, Sociological Inquiry, Social Forces and other scholarly journals. His areas of specialization include statistics and social psychology.
