Dr. Mariah D.R. Evans is Associate Professor with joint appointments in the Department of Sociology in the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) and the Department of Resource Economics in the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources (CABNR). Dr. Evans received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Chicago in 1983. Before accepting the joint position at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2006, Dr. Evans was Senior Research Fellow at Melbourne Institute of Applied Economics and Social Research at the University of Melbourne, Australia. She has an extensive research experience and publications record in the various aspects of community sociology including social statistics, survey design and methods, culture (especially the social psychology of biotechnologies) social stratification, comparative methods and demography.
