Gordon's main areas of research are congressional behavior and political behavior. Her book Campaign Contributions and Legislative Voting: A New Approach covers the effect of campaign contributions on legislative voting called. Gordon's articles have been published in the Journal of Politics and State and Local Government Review.
Gordon teaches courses on American policy and institutions and research methodology.
