Instrumental Performance
Degree Requirements (32 credits)
- The master of music degree is available to students by audition. Recital performances will be auditioned before the department faculty.
- Candidates are expected to demonstrate an advanced level of competency on their instrument. Specific audition requirements are determined by individual applied instructors.
- Instrumental Performance
- MUS 709--Contemporary Theory and Practice (3 credits) - Advanced harmonic practice and contemporary analytical procedures concentrating on music since 1900. (Prerequisites: MUS 301; MUS 302.)
- MUS 731 & MUS 732--Advanced Music History I and II (6 credits) - Intensive study of western music from the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods. (Prerequisites: MUS 341; MUS 342.)
- MUS 790--Seminar in Music (3 credits) - Special problems in music history or theory with their professional implications. Maximum of 6 credits.
- Thesis (two full recitals)/portfolio (6 credits)
- Instrument (4 credits)
- Ensemble (2 credits)
- Electives (7 credits)
- Comprehensive Examination (1 credit)
