The
Department of Music offers a Minor in Dance.
Students in this minor seek careers in the performing arts or teaching
for public and/or private institutions. The course of study emphasizes
technique, choreography, production, dance kinesiology, history, criticism
and aesthetics, and teaching methods.

Performing Opportunities: Scheduled University performances
include the Fall Dance Festival and the Spring Dance Concert. Performing
artists such as Alonzo King, Lines Dance Company, Fua Dia Congo, Robert
Moses’ N Kin, Lula Washington Dance Theatre, Lakota Sioux Dance Theatre,
and Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, Martha Graham Dance Ensemble, Hubbard
Street 2 are examples of resident dance artists. Students in our program
also have the opportunity to perform with the Nevada Opera and other
local professional performance venues. All performing opportunities
are by auditions held each fall and spring semester.
