Mary
Miller is the principal flutist with the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra,
the Nevada Opera Orchestra, and the Reno Chamber Orchestra. Ms. Miller
is a frequent soloist in UNR's Summer Chamber Music series, and plays
with the Lenz Trio, a flute, cello and piano trio. Ms. Miller has been
a featured soloist with the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, the Reno Chamber
Orchestra, the Carson City Symphony, the National Flute Association,
and the Ruby Mountain Symphony. Ms. Miller is a founding member and
past president of the Sierra Flute Society. She is the director of the
Sierra Flute Society's Annual Flute Sonata Competition, held on the
University of Nevada, Reno campus. Ms. Miller received her bachelor's
degree in music education from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1986
and a master's degree in music performance from UNR in 1997. Her teachers
include Susanna Watling, Catherine P. Smith, Alan Cox, Lloyd Gowan,
Timothy Day, and Mary Karen Clardy.
