Hans Halt
Hans Halt hold’s his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from UNR and is a full time instructor of bass and jazz studies at the university. He is currently teaching Jazz Arranging, Jazz Improvisation, Jazz Keyboard Techniques and Applied Bass and Piano.
Hans began playing professionally over 25 years ago in Buffalo, N.Y. In 1980, Hans moved to the San Francisco Bay area gaining experience playing with top Bay Area musicians, including Mark Levine and Pete Escovedo. Since moving to the Reno-Tahoe area, Hans has had the opportunity to perform with many top jazz artists, including Bobby Hutcherson, Lee Konitz, Eddie Daniels, Joe Pass, Ravi Coltrane, Robin Eubanks, Cedar Walton and Peter Erskine. He has also backed up numerous artists at both the Harrah’s Tahoe and Reno showrooms including Rosemary Clooney, Toni Tenille, and Patti Page. Hans has appeared on numerous locally produced CDs, including three with the University of Nevada, Reno’s jazz faculty, The Collective, which feature five of his original compositions.
