Abstract Realism Abstract Realism

Saxophonist Peter Epstein's band, Ide Fixe, has been an act of love (and obsession) since 1997. Along with guitarist Andy Barbera, Sam Minaie on bass, and Matt Mayhall on drums, the group is joined on their debut recording by saxophonist Gavin Templeton & Brian Walsh on bass clarinet, as they create fully realized, spontaneously-composed music with neither discussion or forethought, guiding listeners to some rarely visited, but truly inspired and beautiful places.

Old School Old School

Featuring the great drummer Peter Erskine, with Peter Epstein on sax and Scott Colley on bass. The musicians' mutual respect for each other, and the joy they take in playing together, really shines in every note of this remarkable 4-hour studio session. Most of the tunes were done in one take, harkening back to the old school jazz recordings of the '50s and '60s.
