Andrea Lenz is Associate Professor of Music and Chair of the Department
of Music and Dance at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she has
been teaching since 1976. After studying at Mills College with Jean-Louis
LeRoux, she finished her Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance and her
Master of Music in Composition from the University of New Mexico.
Her
teaching duties include Applied Oboe, Music Theory, and Techniques of
Piano Accompaniment. She is Principal Oboist of the Reno Chamber Orchestra,
the Reno Philharmonic, and the Nevada Opera. She has performed at music
festivals in Telluride, Colorado and Sun River, Oregon. Ms. Lenz also
often serves as accompanist for faculty and student recitals, and area
competitions and festivals. She has accompanied such performers as James
King, Delora Zajick, Daniel Heifetz, Leonard Nimoy, Martin Chalifour,
and Evelyn de la Rosa.
