Goal: mastering ensemble playing in a fun and relaxed atmosphere and sharing the music through concerts.
Info: Harp Ensemble (MUSE 190.3) is a single credit class required for all students taking private harp lessons at UNR. There is no audition requirement for this ensemble. Students are assigned to groups according to their ability level, as determined by the instructor. Harp ensembles meet once a week in groups of 3-5 students and progress through the assigned repertoire. Pieces are often especially arranged by the instructor to accommodate special song requests or to fit the abilities of the students in the group. Collaborations with other musical and art disciplines is encouraged.
Performances: UNR harp ensembles perform regularly in Concert Class and final semester concerts that are open to the public. The final semester concert is typically held on the first Saturday of finals week. An annual "Harp Plus" concert, produced by harp faculty Marina Roznitovsky Oster, features a few pieces involving combined harp ensembles (see videos on Marina's biography page).
