University Guitar Ensemble Performance Information

The University Guitar Ensemble is especially for Applied Music Majors with an emphasis in guitar. Guitar students are required to participate in a major ensemble and may substitute up to 50% (4 semesters) of their major ensemble requirement by enrolling in Guitar Ensemble (MUS 205/405/605)

About the Director

Ed Corey has taught music at the postsecondary level for 18 years and is currently instructor of guitar and guitar ensemble director at the University of Nevada, Reno. He earned his bachelor's degree at the University of New Hampshire, Durham and received his master's degree from California State University, Sacramento. Corey has performed for 35 years as a jazz guitarist throughout the country, and has also performed for many years with casino showroom orchestras in Reno. Ed presently performs in the Reno/Tahoe area with his own jazz guitar trio.

This is a Major Ensemble The Department of Music considers this ensemble to be a Major Ensemble. Registered participation in Major Ensembles fulfills certain degree requirements. Find out more below and consult your advisor.

The Department of Music offers opportunities to any University student demonstrating sufficient musical ability to participate in performing ensembles. Because most of these ensembles require an audition, students should seek the instructor's approval prior to registration.
