Kyle Bladow
I hail from Michigan's Upper Peninsula, where I received my B.A. in English and my M.A. in literature and creative writing from Northern Michigan University. Spending my childhood around the Great Lakes, I developed a keen appreciation for these precious sources of freshwater and the ecosystems they support. My research interests include bioregionalism and postcolonial studies. My attention is most drawn to the ways in which place determines or influences literature, and how literature in turn presents, celebrates, and preserves place. My master's thesis examined perceptions of landscape occurring in four novels set along the southern shore of Lake Superior. Outside academia, I enjoy running, hiking, and cooking. My zeal for sustainable agriculture has led me to work at a food co-op as well as volunteer on several organic farms. For more information, contact Kyle at kbladow.at.unr.edu. |
