Frank Hartigan's major field of history is medieval Europe. He has taught and published in this field since coming to UNR in 1970. In addition to the Middle Ages, Frank has taught courses in ancient history, the Renaissance and Reformation, Women's history, historiography, general European history, and Western Traditions. His primary research interests include medieval millennialism, especially the reaction to Europe to the first millennium, the year 1000. Frank is active in campus affairs and has served as Chair of the Faculty Senate, director of the London Study Program, and director of the University Honors Program.
