Dr. Oda completed her Ph.D. in history from the University of Chicago and joins the department in the fall of 2011. Her research and teaching interests include the US in the Pacific World, Asian American history, and American transnational history. These interests inform her manuscript, "Remaking the Gateway to the Pacific: Urban, Economic, and Racial Redevelopment in San Francisco, 1945-1970," which examines transpacific trade, race, and urban redevelopment in the building of the Japanese Cultural and Trade Center in San Francisco's Japantown.
