GUY WAGENER, associate professor of French, received his Ph.D. in 1979 from the University of California-Irvine. He teaches French language, literature and culture. His research focuses on the relations between literature and fields such as science, philosophy and history. His areas of specialization are the 17th and 18th centuries in French literature, with a special emphasis on Diderot. His other academic interests lie with foreign language teaching pedagogy and with the "culturel" in Contemporary France.
