FRENCH 

For a major, 30 credits are required, all of which must be 300 level or above, except for the required course in culture, French 221. Twelve of the 30 required credits must be completed on the Reno campus. Prior to signoff on the DARS reconciliation form for graduation, students must have an oral interview and provide a written sample of their French work to the department (for internal purposes only).

*     Prerequisite for Masterworks courses.
**   The college’s policy for courses graded satisfactory/unsatisfactory (S/U) conforms to the university policy, except for the restrictions that courses taken for S/U credit do not count towards fulfilling the Prescribed Courses for Liberal Arts majors or for fulfilling major and minor requirements. This restriction on major and minor requirements can be waived if the course is recommended by the student’s academic advisor; the advisor’s recommendation must be approved by the department chair and submitted to the dean’s office for final approval. If a course is offered for S/U credit only (for example, Spanish 309), the college’s restrictions are waived.
