DARRELL B. LOCKHART, Ph.D., is an Associate Dean in the College of Liberal Arts and an associate professor in Spanish. He received his Ph.D. from Arizona State University (1995) and has been at UNR since 1999. His teaching and research interests include Latin American literature and culture, including courses on Latin American popular culture, film, theater, and narrative. He is a specialist in contemporary Southern Cone literature and Jewish Latin American literature and cultural production with a variety of publications in these areas that have appeared in the United States, Argentina, Chile, and Europe. He is the editor of Jewish Writers of Latin America: A Dictionary (1997) and the co-author of Culture and Customs of Argentina (1998). He has also edited the volumes, Latin American Mystery Writers: An A to Z Guide (2004), Latin American Science Fiction Writers: An A to Z Guide (2004) and Critical Approaches to Jewish-Mexican Literature / Aproximaciones críticas a la literatura judeomexicana (2013). Currently, he is the book review editor for the journal Chasqui: revista de literatura latinoamericana (see link below). In addition he is the co-president of the Latin American Jewish Studies Association (LAJSA) (see link below).
