Senior Scholar Award Winner
This year at the May graduation ceremony, the College of Liberal Arts will present the Award of Senior Scholar to a graduating English major, Nicole Lynn Martin. Nicole is a 4.0 student with a dual major in English Literature and Spanish. Her mentor is Dr. Monica M. Grecu of the English Department. Nicole is honored to receive the award and proud to have the chance to recognize an instructor who has added to her academic success. "Dedication, enthusiasm, and hard work pay off," said Nicole, who is grateful for the opportunity to have spent an academic year abroad in Heredia, Costa Rica and Buenos Aires, Argentina. In her travels, Nicole attended an international university in Buenos Aires where she studied literature. "I was also fortunate to have been able to travel all around Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay, and also, to Iguazu Waterfalls on the border of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay," she said. Congratulations, Nicole!
Don Hardy's new book!
Don Hardy, professor of linguistics in our department, has written a study of Flannery O'Connor. Entitled The Body in Flannery O'Connor's Fiction, it is a computational, linguistic, and literary approach to O'Connor's work.
