Any questions
not addressed by this style sheet should be answered by
reference to the current edition of the MLA Handbook. General Style Guidelines Font/Size: Palatino Linotype (PC) or Palatino (Mac) 10 pt. preferred Spacing: Double-space text with an additional line space between Heading and Body. No line spaces between paragraphs. Indents: Do not indent Heading or the first paragraph of the Body. All other paragraphs within the Body should be indented a half inch as standard. When indenting, please use the "tab" button rather than the space key. Titles: Please italicize rather than underline titles. Dashes: Use double hyphens ( -- ) to indicate dashes. Notes: All notes (titled as "Notes") should be placed at the end of the article, prior to the bibliography (titled as "References"). DO NOT USE AUTO-FORMAT for Notes. Instead, place Note number in brackets where appropriate. Example: . . .was in some sense preordained. [27] Other: DO NOT USE PAGE BREAKS, SECTION BREAKS, OR HEADERS/FOOTERS (with the exception of page numbers). Make a note of any special instructions, especially for graphics and quoted poetry (please include photocopies of published poems that need special formatting). Highlight foreign words needing special accents or punctuation, and words with non-standard spellings. An Example of Notes and References at the End of an Article : (no spaces or tabs; no hanging indents; one space between each entry; "notes" and "references" all in lower case): notes 1.
